President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken steps to strengthen the Ministry of Youth by appointing two new ministers to lead it. This announcement was made through a statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
The newly appointed ministers are Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, who will serve as the Minister of Youth, and Ayodele Olawande, who will take on the role of Minister of State for Youth. These appointments are pending confirmation by the Senate.
Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, a young medical doctor, has an impressive track record of leadership. She previously held the position of President of the Progressive Young Women Forum (PYWF) and served as the Senior Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On the other hand, Mr. Ayodele Olawande brings expertise in community development and is a prominent youth leader within the ruling All Progressives' Congress (APC). His previous role included service in the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Innovation from 2019 to 2023.
President Tinubu has charged these nominees with a crucial mission: to embody the dynamism, innovative spirit, and unwavering productivity that characterize the youth of Nigeria in the discharge of their duties. These appointments signal the government's commitment to empowering and engaging the youth in driving positive change and development in the country.
