Court sacks Labour Party Rep member in Lagos, declares APC as candidate winner.

The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal in Lagos has invalidated the election of Seyi Sowunmi, the Labour Party member representing Ojo Federal Constituency. The ruling, which took place on August 24, 2023, declared Lanre Ogunyemi, a former Secretary of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the rightful winner of the constituency.

Ogunyemi contested the election results against Oluwaseyi Ayopo Sowunmi of the Labour Party, who had been initially declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The judgement was delivered by a three-member panel, Panel 3, situated at the old National Assembly complex in Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. The panel members include Justice Ashu A. Ewah (Chairman), Justice Abdullahi A Ozegya, and Justice M A Sambo.
