Gov. Zulum tells Tinubu that palliatives not solution to food insecurity.

The governor of Borno state, Prof Babagana Zulum, has urged the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the issue of hunger in Nigeria. He emphasized that the current measures introduced may not effectively address the problem of food insecurity and other challenges. Zulum made these remarks during the induction of Senator Abubakar Kyari and Senator Aliyu Abdullahi as Minister of Agriculture and Food Security and Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, respectively.

Zulum stated, "It's evident that short-term palliative efforts won't adequately solve our issues. We need to seek medium and long-term solutions to tackle food insecurity and other challenges. Therefore, our focus should be on investing in modern agriculture, irrigated farming, green technology, emerging tech, rainwater harvesting, and more."

He stressed the need to invest in these areas, considering the rapid population growth and diminishing food supply in Nigeria. Zulum expressed hope that the new ministers and technocrats would collaborate to reshape the nation's agricultural industry.

Furthermore, the newly appointed Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, assured that the ministry's approach would be transparent and honest. He declared, "We will always provide accurate information to the public," emphasizing the government's commitment to truthfulness and transparency.

Idris encouraged Nigerians to reject fake news and verify information before sharing it. Minister Hannatu Musawa, responsible for arts, culture, and the creative economy, highlighted the ministry's goal to showcase Nigeria globally while generating revenue for the country.
