Uba Sani, the
Kaduna state governor, has declared a reduction in the existing fees at Kaduna
state-owned higher learning institutions.
In an official statement
released by Muhammad Lawal Shehu, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on
Monday, it was revealed that Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna state, has
initiated a reduction in the current fees for Kaduna state-owned tertiary
institutions.
According to the statement, the revised fee structure is as
follows:
- Kaduna State
University – Original Fee: N150,000 – Reduction (%): 30% – Revised Fee:
N105,000.
- Nuhu Bamalli
Polytechnic – Original Fee: N100,000 – Reduction (%): 50% – Revised Fee:
N50,000.
- College of Education,
Gidan Waya – Original Fee: N75,000 – Reduction (%): 50% – Revised Fee: N37,500.
- Shehu Idris College of
Health Sciences & Technology, Makarfi
- HND Courses –
Original Fee: N100,000 – Reduction (%): 30% – Revised Fee: N70,000.
- ND Courses –
Original Fee: N75,000 – Reduction (%): 30% – Revised Fee: N52,000.
- Kaduna State College
of Nursing – Original Fee: N100,000 – Reduction (%): 30% – Revised Fee:
N70,000.
Shehu explained that this
revision aligns with the Governor’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign
promises to the people of Kaduna, particularly in response to the concerns
raised during the election campaigns.
Upon taking office on May 29,
2023, the administration pledged to prioritize the welfare of the citizens and
ensure inclusive governance. The Governor stated, “This reduction in fees
reflects our dedication to providing relief from the overall increasing cost of
living, especially following the recent removal of petroleum subsidies in
Nigeria.”
He emphasized that the welfare of
the people remains the administration’s primary concern. Furthermore, the
Kaduna State Government aims to ensure accessible and
quality education for all
children, from primary to secondary school, while also enhancing teacher
welfare, improving school infrastructure, fostering ICT skills, and investing
in education at all levels.
