Former Boko Haram insurgents that are rehabilitating in Maiduguri has protest today on delaying to gets there allowances (Vedio).

A group of former Boko Haram insurgents has initiated a protest in Borno state due to the delay in receiving their allowances.

Former Boko Haram members gather in Maiduguri, protesting because they don't have enough food and their living conditions are bad. These ex-terrorists are currently in a program to change their beliefs and behavior.

Some former members of the extremist group Boko Haram staged a protest in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. They claimed that the government had abandoned them.

Around 6,900 ex-Boko Haram members surrendered to Nigerian authorities and renounced their affiliation with the terrorist organization. These former militants are currently part of a program to change their beliefs and behavior, taking place at the Hajj Camp in Maiduguri.

However, they broke out of the facility and took to the streets to protest, demanding the government fulfill its promise of paying them a 30,000 Naira allowance. This protest caused tension and traffic congestion on the Bulumkutu - Maiduguri Highway until security forces arrived to calm the situation.

The former extremists stated that they were compelled to protest in order to express their disappointment to the world and the authorities. They claimed they had been neglected, with insufficient food and other basic amenities.

These individuals said that the government had assured them of rehabilitation and reintegration into society, allowing them to lead lawful lives as responsible Nigerians.

In response to this situation, the Commissioner of Information and Internal Security for the state, Usman Tar, mentioned that the 'biometrics registration' for repentant insurgents had resumed after the incident. He explained that this registration process would be conducted in six batches by a certified team of intelligence and ICT experts with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in data management as part of the Disarmament, Demobilisation, Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, and Reintegration (DDRRRR) program, also known as the "Borno Model."
