Abuja — The valiant efforts of the troops from the 144 Battalion have borne fruit, leading to the successful rescue of 25 hostages from the clutches of Boko Haram terrorists in the expansive regions of Borno and neighboring states.

This bold operation, executed in collaboration with the Hybrid Force, exhibited its effectiveness by liberating 14 hostages during a meticulously planned clearance mission at Gobara village, situated within the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on a momentous Saturday.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, provided crucial details on this triumphant endeavor, sharing that among the 25 liberated individuals, there were six women and eight children. Their liberation offers a glimmer of hope amid the terror and uncertainty that has gripped the region.

In a remarkable continuation of these life-saving missions, another daring operation unfolded on the subsequent Sunday. Troops from the 82 Task Force Battalion, working in conjunction with the Hybrid Force, launched a swift raid on a Boko Haram enclave nestled in the Gava Village of Gwoza Local Government Area. As a result, 11 civilians who had been held captive were brought to freedom.

These rescued individuals, who have been entrusted to the care of the troops, are presently undergoing a comprehensive profiling process to ensure their well-being and security.

Significantly, the relentless pursuit of justice and safety led to yet another heartening development. In an operation conducted by the 81 Division Task Force Battalion in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State, seven members of a Boko Haram family chose the path of surrender. This family unit, composed of three adults and four children, opted to sever ties with the terrorist group.

Amidst the efforts against insurgency, the troops continued their resolute stance against banditry as well. In a separate operation on the same Sunday in Kaduna State, the brave soldiers of the 2 Battalion acted on actionable intelligence. Their response resulted in the elimination of a criminal element and the liberation of four kidnap victims who had been held captive in Kwana Shehu Village within the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

The reunion of these liberated victims with their families serves as a poignant reminder of the significant impact of these operations on the lives of ordinary citizens who have been terrorized by these criminal elements.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu concluded his statement by earnestly calling upon the public to contribute to the ongoing operations by providing credible and valuable information that can further strengthen the troops' efforts to restore peace and security throughout the nation.
