NNPP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has taken the decision to suspend its presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for a duration of six months following a decision made by the party's Board of Trustees (BoT). This action was officially communicated through a communique signed by the BoT Chairman, Temitope Aluko. The announcement took place during the party's general assembly meeting held in Apapa, Lagos.

The party's BoT has put forth allegations against Kwankwaso, accusing him of engaging in unauthorized interactions with President Bola Tinubu, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP). The BoT expressed discontent over these actions, as they were carried out without the necessary authorization from the Board. As a result, Kwankwaso was not only suspended but also stripped of his titles as the NNPP's national and state leader.

Moreover, the BoT decided to dissolve the existing National Working Committee (NWC) of the party due to concerns of incompetence and a failure to adhere to the party's constitution and proper processes when filling vacant positions. In place of the former NWC, a new committee led by Dr. Agbo Major as the acting National Chairman and Comrade Ogini Olaposi as the acting National Secretary was established. This new NWC aims to rectify past shortcomings and uphold the principles of the party.

The party's headquarters location in Abuja was also reconfirmed in the communique. The Board clarified that the partnership between NNPP and Kwankwasia, The National Movement (TNM), as well as the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), has been withdrawn.

Dr. Major, the newly appointed acting National Chairman, expressed the committee's commitment to reconciliation and inclusion. He extended an olive branch to all members who may have been aggrieved, stressing the party's people-friendly manifestoes and its determination to remain aligned with these values.

The Board further criticized the former NWC for its reckless handling of party affairs, including the unconstitutional suspension of the Founder, Chief Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam. The Board clarified that Dr. Boniface Aniebonam resigned from his position as BoT Chairman, and Chief Tope Aluko took his place. Babayo Muhammed Abdulahi was elected as the new BOT Secretary, and High Chief Tony Obioha was chosen as the BoT spokesperson.

The Board's communique highlighted multiple instances of constitutional violations, amendments without proper procedures, and disregard for the party's Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). It also acknowledged the dissolution of state chapters and reinstatement of suspended executive chairmen by the BoT chairman.

Overall, the NNPP's recent actions and decisions reflect its determination to uphold its principles and constitution while striving to build a more inclusive and functional political structure.
