Zulum/new Rector 

 Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has recently granted his approval for the appointment of Mr. Bukar Abubakar as the new Rector of Ramat Polytechnic, located in Maiduguri. This significant decision was officially announced through a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Mallam Isa Gusau.


Mr. Bukar Abubakar's career at Ramat Polytechnic has been marked by significant accomplishments. Prior to his elevation as the Rector, he served as the Deputy Rector, Administration, of the polytechnic. His journey at the institution also included roles such as heading the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology from 2014 to 2019, acting as the Director of the School of Engineering in 2016, and holding the position of Principal Lecturer from 2018 to 2021. In 2020, he assumed the role of Deputy Rector, Administration, and concurrently chaired the Staff Development Committee from 2020 to the present. Furthermore, Mr. Bukar Abubakar has been recognized as a Chief Lecturer since 2022, underscoring his contributions to the academic community.


One notable facet of Mr. Abubakar's academic journey is his prolific research output. The statement highlights that he has authored nearly 40 published research papers, along with a few unpublished works, which have been featured in various academic journals. This substantial body of work underscores his commitment to advancing knowledge and contributing to the academic discourse in his field.

Additionally, the newly appointed Rector is affiliated with several professional organizations that attest to his expertise and dedication in the field of mechanical engineering and technical education. These affiliations include membership in the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigeria Association of Vocational and Technical Educators, the International Association of Engineers, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Such affiliations reflect his commitment to staying current with industry standards and collaborating with peers in the global engineering community.
